CHEMERUNG WATERFALL
Hutan Lipur Sungai Chemerung is the biggest Hutan Lipur and is located beside the river of the Forest Reserve of Pasir Raja, in Dungun. The forest reserve is a hill forest that is blessed with abundant of are many unique of flora and fauna that can be found here. The forest reserve is rich with the meranti and keruing tree which create an interesting background to the Hutan Lipur.
Hutan Lipur Sungai Chemerung is one of the most famous Recreational Forest in Malaysia as uniquely, it is the home of the highest waterfall in Malaysia; the Chemerung Waterfall and the world two largest and oldest Cengal tree and the most beautiful and scenic Recreational Forest in the whole peninsular Malaysia.
As you are approaching the recreational forest from far a way you will see along strict of white colour in the middle of the green valley. The closer you get to it you will see a towering white water gushing down from the valley like a stairway to heaven.
The Chemerung Waterfall is a 305m high beautiful and magnificent waterfall which lay at the wall of East Coast Mountain Range. The 305 meters of gushing white water streaked down to the many beautiful steep rock faces before smashing into a cloud of spray all around the waterfall as is the whole place are still in the early morning mist.
The Hutan Lipur Sungai Chemerung is the favourite resting spots in Malaysia and Terengganu with almost two thousand visitors almost every weekend or during the holiday season. The are a lot of ammenities here that are prepared by the Forestry Department. The are many resting hut or “Wakaf” that are built around the place, a high observation tower can also be found here for the many nature lover who want to see the many animal that frequently visit the salt area here.
A picnic trip at Hutan Lipur Sungai Chemerung is the most ideal thing to do here as this will bring and tighten the family together and ease the body to relax from the stressful weeks of long hour works.

KENYIR LAKE
Tasik Kenyir is the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia, spanning 260,000 hectares. It is also Malaysia's largest rock filled hydroelectric dam. When the area was flooded, most of the hills were above the water level, thus creating about 340 man-made islands.
The rainforest that cradles the area bestows the lake with an incredible assortment of flora and fauna including rare ferns, exotic orchids, hornbills, elephants, and panthers. It is believed that the area is the home for more than 8,000 species of flowers, 2,500 species of plants and trees, 800 species of orchids, and 300 species of fungus.
Tasik Kenyir is located about 55 km inland of Kuala Terengganu and is the largest man-made lake in the world. Spanning over 260,000 hectares, it is a popular destination for nature lovers as it is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. Upon the completion of hydroelectric dam, the water level rises creating 340 islands, more than 14 lovely waterfalls and a few rapids and rivers. Pengkalan Gawi jetty has boat services for island trips and resort transfers.
Tasik Kenyir is also a gateway to Taman Negara through Tanjung Mentong. It is also an angler’s haven as the lake is home to hundreds of species of freshwater fish like Baung, Toman, Kelisa, Lampam and Kelah. Accommodation varies from a 3 star resort, chalets on the islands, floating resort or houseboats where rooms and meals are provided. The houseboat travels to waterfalls and fishing sites proving an exhilarating adventure for nature lovers. |
PASIR RAJA FOREST RESERVE
Situated near the border of Taman Negara, this huge forest reserve is home to the world's largest Chengal tree. It is estimated to be around 1,300 years old with a diameter of 16.75 meters and a height of 65 meters.
The wood of Chengal trees is mainly used for building purposes as it is known to be extremely durable. A highly exciting destination for nature lovers and the adventurous, Pasir Raja is blessed with clean, fresh air, countless wildlife, magnificent flora and fauna, numerous winding streams, rapids and a waterfall. It is a perfect setting for jungle trekking, swimming and relaxing. |
